Chongqing is a peninsula between two rivers with hills everywhere, so "central" means something different here. The question is not which hotel, it is which bank of which river.
Walk to Hongya Cave, Kuixing Lou, the cableway and the best hotpot streets. Two metro lines. Noisy, busy, and exactly where you want to be for two or three nights.
Across the Yangtze from the peninsula. You look at the skyline instead of being inside it. Restored old lanes, river terraces, one cableway ride from the centre.
Hotels inside and around the cave complex sell the view. You get it, along with crowds under your window until 23:00.
The city’s other centre, north of the Jialing. Malls, street food alleys, bars where no one is a tourist. Metro Line 3 to the airport.
Examples, not endorsements for pay. We take nothing from any hotel.
